TEXAS HEART GETS SPECIAL SCREENING!

July 1, 2015
On June 13, a rough cut of TEXAS HEART was given a special screening for the hometown folks: we screened the film in the very town that inspired the story, Wolfe City, Texas, where my co-author and producing partner, Nick Feild, and I grew up. The screening attracted a huge crowd that laughed and cheered at the end. It was a wonderful way to connect with those small-town roots and show how all the indelible characters and stories that emerge out of small town life can blossom and take root nationally: we send TEXAS HEART off to the festival circuit starting later this summer. In the meantime, check out the very positive article that the film critic of the Greenville (TX) Herald-Banner wrote about the screening:

THE FESTIVAL CIRCUIT BEGINS!
Our initial entry into the film festival world begins, appropriately, at the Austin Film Festival. We submit TEXAS HEART in mid-July and, if selected, it will be screened during the festival that runs October 29-November 5, 2015. The many renown filmmakers, actors and writers who have participated in the AFF over the years include Oliver Stone (PLATOON), John Milius (APOCALYPSE NOW), Bill Broyles (CASTAWAY; APOLLO 13), Callie Khouri (NASHVILLE), Tommy Lee Jones (THE THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA), Ron Howard (PARENTHOOD), Sandra Bullock (MISS CONGENIALITY), and John Lee Hancock (THE BLIND SIDE). Our director Mark David is an alumnus of the AFF. Here’s hoping TEXAS HEART marks his return to Austin and the launch of our film!

NEW BOOK GETS NEW TITLE!

June 19, 2015
My new book, a saga about the Fletchers, a Vermont-based farm family that scatters to the South and West during the 19th century, has been retitled: OUR FAMILY DREAMS: THE ADVENTURES OF THE FLETCHERS ACROSS 19TH CENTURY AMERICA. It will come out next summer with St. Martin’s Press. A sort of novelistic approach to an historical subject, I’m very excited by the book. Look for it on Amazon!
